Worlds Boston 2013 - World Champion John Whitehurst

The Carey Academy has just returned from the World Championships in Boston.  
Congratulations to John Whitehurst who was once again crowned World champion - this is John's third World title.
This brings our total of World titles to 19 since we were formed in 2007 – making us one of the most successful schools in England.
14 solo dancers travelled to compete in Boston, everyone danced their best and we had some great results:-
U17 Boys Mitchell Hodges 2nd
U13 Girls Beth Monaghan 3rd
U19 Ladies Fiona Shellum 8th

Carey Academy @ All Scotlands - 2 Champions!

Well done to all our dancers who competed at the All Scotland's. Congratulations to our champions U9 Boys Patrick McGonigle and 3 times All Scotland Champion John Whitehurst.

Carey Academy @ Midland World Qualifiers

Carey Academy has just returned from a very successful Midland Qualifiers at Kettering. We have 6 solo champions, 7 2nd places, 4 ceili team champions and an amazing 21 solo world qualifiers. Well done to everyone that danced and congratulations to all our champions and qualifiers.

Good Luck to all the Carey Academy dancers dancing this weekend at the Midland Region World Qualifiers.
We have 56 solo dancers and 8 ceili teams competing. Check back next week to see who has qualified for the Worlds 2013 in Boston.

Carey Academy Russia

The Carey Academy is very excited to announce it now has branches in Russia!!! John has been to Ufa and Yekaterinburg earlier this year where he gave workshops to approximately 50 students age ranges 10 - 40!! There are regular classes in Ufa, Samara, Tolyatti, Kazan, Izhevsk, Magnitogorsk and Chelyabinsk. Teachers from the staff here will be travelling over on a regular basis to check on progress and teach new choreography and techniques which can then be passed on in the local towns.

Carey Academy @ Great Britain Championships

Carey Academy has just returned from the Great Britain Championships with some great results and a new U8 Boys Champion Patrick McGonigle. Well done to Patrick!

Carey Academy welcomes new teacher!

Carey Academy is delighted to welcome Tanya Cunningham TCRG to the teaching staff. Tanya originates from Sydney, Australia with Irish roots in Dundalk and Carrickmacross. She was 7 times Australian Champion as well as placing top 10 in the Worlds and All Ireland championships. She was also starred as the lead role in the irish dancing show 'Dance of Desire'. Tanya is also trained in Latin American and Ballroom dancing and is hopefully be starting 'Zumba' classes at the studio soon!

Carey Academy Open Day 2nd September 1pm - 4pm

Carey Academy is holding an open day at the Carey Studios on Sunday 2nd September 1pm to 4pm. Taster Irish Dancing lessons for all ages. Dancing displays by the Carey Acdemy World Champions. Everyone welcome! Refreshments and on site car parking available. Discounts available if you sign up for lessons on the day. Come along and join in the fun!

 

British Nationals - Champions & World Qualifiers

Carey Academy returns with 2 champions and 10 World Qualifiers!
U8 Boys champion Patrick McGonigle and Caolan McKeating-Lynch U17 Boys champion.
The following dancers also qualified for the World Championships which will be held in
Boston March 2013:- Cianna Conway, Beth Monaghan, John Whitehurst,
Cleona Haughton-Brown, Grace McCarthy,Nicole Cadinot, Aine Conway,
Darcey  Nolan, Mitchell Hodges and Caolan McKeating-Lynch.

North American Nationals 2 New Champions!

Carey Academy had 4 dancers competing at the North Amercian Nationals
in Chicago this July. The competition was very tough with the largest entry EVER,
our dancers managed to come away with some great results which included 2 champions!

U9 girls champion Erin McPolin & U17 Boys Champion Mitchell Hodges!

Well done also to Grace McCarthy 23rd in U15 Girls and Nicole Cadinot 9th in U16 girls.
